FASHION INDUSTRY UNDER COVID-19 OR SAD REALITY

So many people are talking these days how Covid-19 is effecting fashion industry and sad reality of many businesses are closing down, although today I would like to touch on an angle that I don’t believe has been covered before – FASHION WEAR UNDER COVID-19 OR SAD REALITY of its take in the human mind.

Depending on where you are located, reopening and business operations have been different from state to state and county to county. Here, in Northern Michigan, we have been very lucky to stay open since June 1st and carry on with our regular life “habits” with just small adjustments of wearing a mask in public, social distancing and taking responsible approach to staying safe. Though many public influencers along with media have taken the virus approach to a complete end of the world disaster.

Don’t take this wrong, I know how serious it is out there and how many people have been effected by Covid-19. Though, I watch people every day and see how they respond to wearing nice closes and to dressing up in a little bit more fashionable trendy way. So many times I hear: “I have no where to wear it” as if their lives are over or just about to be. I hear hopeless voices and similar comments from people every day.

After a while I started to wonder – “How come that many are so crowd oriented? How come that many think that they can wear nice clothes only while around other people but not alone?” What does this tell you??… That we dress up only to impress other people?! If this is it, THIS is a TRUE SAD REALITY… And at this point it is not about fashion at all but about human mentality.

This a true test as to who we are, how we operate, what our integrity is, where we stand in our faith and how we grow. If you gave up on fashion, your “favorite” high heel shoes and beautiful clothes because “you don’t have anywhere to wear it any more”, you did not give up on fashion, you gave up on yourself, your life!

What happened to Sunday dinners in a circle of your own family with a table setting of beautiful china, polished silverware and family dressed up to enjoy company of people you love? Don’t they deserve to see your rosy blushed cheeks, plumped lips, lovely outfit and a smell of beautiful perfume?.. Or is it only the co-workers or the strangers in the subway who you dress up for??..

Do it for yourself, not for society. Because we don’t live for others, we always have a choice of our own thoughts and actions regardless of any situation and we live for ourselves. That is what this country of United States stands for. WE mold the society we live in to adopt and reflect our ideas, we dictate the rules! Not the other way around.

I believe our strong minds will reflect in a fast solution of eliminating the virus and we all go back to our “normal” lives. But in the meanwhile, carry on with your life and enjoy the beauty of fashion, whether it is comfy-casual or elegant-trendy with new arrivals at PEcado or your other favorite brands.
